Xavi Hernandez’s future as Barcelona manager is to be determined in the coming days, and if he is sacked, a replacement will be required. Several candidates have been considered so far, including Barca Atletic’s Rafa Marquez, although he isn’t the only possible in-house appointment.

According to a report from El Chiringuito, Barcelona would considering hiring Jonatan Giraldez if Xavi is sacked. Giraldez is currently head coach of Barcelona Femeni, who considered their all-conquering on Saturday with an 8-0 victory over Real Sociedad in the Copa de la Reina final.

Interestingly, Barcelona already have an agreement in place to allow Giraldez to join NWSL side Washington Spirit at the end of the season, although the report claims that they would be willing to break it to allow Giraldez to take over as head coach of the men’s side from next season onwards.

It would be a major surprise if this happened, to say the least. If Barcelona do part ways with Xavi, it’s highly likely that they will go for someone with experience in the men’s game.
